The Wealth Company Mutual Fund has submitted draft documents for the launch of two specialised long–short equity strategies under its Wealth Select Investment Fund (WSIF) platform. The WSIF structure, approved by the capital markets regulator in November 2025, allows the fund house to introduce specialised investment vehicles within the mutual fund ecosystem.
Overview of the Proposed Strategies
The proposals relate to the WSIF Equity Long–Short Fund and the WSIF Equity Ex-Top 100 Long–Short Fund. Both will follow a long–short equity framework, investing predominantly in listed shares and equity-linked securities, while taking restricted short positions through derivatives to enhance strategy flexibility.
Investment Universe and Focus
The WSIF Equity Long–Short Fund will have the flexibility to invest across the entire equity market, without any constraints based on market capitalisation.
The WSIF Equity Ex-Top 100 Long–Short Fund will largely avoid the top 100 companies by market capitalisation and is expected to focus primarily on mid-cap and small-cap stocks, enabling investors to tap into emerging businesses outside the large-cap universe.
Investment Objective and Benchmark Selection
According to the draft scheme documents, both strategies aim to deliver long-term capital appreciation. The NIFTY 500 Total Return Index (TRI) has been chosen as the benchmark for both funds, offering broad-based representation of the equity market across market-cap segments.
NFO Pricing and Offer Structure
During the New Fund Offer (NFO) period, units of both strategies will be issued at a face value of ₹10 each. Post the NFO, units will be bought and sold at prices linked to the applicable net asset value (NAV). The schemes are expected to reopen for ongoing sale and repurchase within five business days from the date of allotment.
Liquidity, Transactions, and Settlement
Subscriptions and redemptions will be available on all business days. Under normal market conditions, redemption proceeds are proposed to be paid out within three working days. The units are not proposed to be listed on any stock exchange, and transactions will occur directly with the mutual fund.
Leadership for the WSIF Platform
Chinmay Sathe has been named Chief Investment Officer and Head – SIF at The Wealth Company. He will spearhead the specialised investment fund initiatives under the WSIF platform and oversee strategy implementation.
Summary
The Wealth Company Mutual Fund has filed draft documents to launch two long–short equity strategies under its WSIF platform — the Equity Long–Short Fund and the Equity Ex-Top 100 Long–Short Fund. Both schemes will invest mainly in listed equities while taking limited short positions through derivatives. They target long-term capital appreciation and will benchmark against the NIFTY 500 TRI. Units will be offered at ₹10 during the NFO, with ongoing liquidity available thereafter. The specialised fund business will be led by Chinmay Sathe as CIO and Head – SIF.
