Latest Updates

Ola Electric has started deliveries of its Shakti 9.1 kWh residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bengaluru, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into India’s clean energy storage segment. Powered by indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cells, the Shakti system is India’s first locally designed and manufactured residential battery energy storage solution.

The company has commenced deliveries of the 6 kW/9.1 kWh variant and plans to gradually expand distribution to other parts of the country over the coming months.

BIS Certification for Additional Shakti Variant

In a key regulatory milestone, Ola Electric has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for the 3 kW/5.2 kWh Shakti model. This follows the BIS certification granted to the 9.1 kWh variant on January 15, 2026. With both models now certified, Ola Electric is set to begin large-scale manufacturing and nationwide sales of the Shakti battery systems.

Expanding Beyond Electric Mobility

The rollout of the Shakti series aligns with Ola Electric’s broader strategy to diversify beyond electric vehicles into clean energy and storage solutions. By leveraging its in-house Bharat Cell technology, the company aims to strengthen local innovation and reduce reliance on imported battery technologies.

Addressing India’s Energy Storage Needs

Designed for residential, agricultural and commercial applications, the Shakti BESS is positioned to meet the growing demand for dependable energy storage, particularly in regions with inconsistent grid supply. The certified, high-capacity systems are expected to enhance energy self-reliance and support India’s sustainability and clean energy goals.
