The Adani Group has announced plans to invest around ₹70,000 crore in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, focusing on energy, logistics and airport-linked infrastructure, according to media reports. The proposed investments are aimed at boosting industrial capacity, strengthening power reliability and improving logistics efficiency across the region.

Major Push in Energy and Industrial Development

Speaking at the Advantage Vidarbha Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav 2026, Jeet Adani said the group views Vidarbha as a long-term strategic growth hub. One of the flagship proposals is a ₹70,000 crore integrated coal gasification and downstream derivatives complex to be set up at Linga in Kalmeshwar, in Nagpur district.

The project is expected to generate around 30,000 direct employment opportunities while helping build advanced capabilities in chemicals and cleaner energy solutions. It is also aimed at supporting domestic industrial demand and reducing import dependence in key sectors.

Power, Logistics and Aviation Expansion

In the power segment, Adani Power already operates a 3,300 MW supercritical thermal power plant at Tiroda and revived the 600 MW Butibori plant in 2025. Through a long-term supply agreement, the group is supplying 6,600 MW of electricity to Maharashtra, combining renewable energy sources with thermal baseload capacity to ensure grid stability.

The group is also scaling up its logistics footprint in the region. This includes the development of a 75-acre inland container depot at Borkhedi and the operation of 24 border check posts, initiatives aimed at streamlining freight movement and enhancing export competitiveness.

In the aviation and defence space, Adani’s acquisition of Indamer Technics has led to the expansion of a 30-acre maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at MIHAN, Nagpur. The facility now features 15 aircraft bays and holds multiple global certifications, strengthening the region’s aerospace infrastructure.

Summary

The Adani Group has announced plans to invest approximately ₹70,000 crore in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, spanning energy, logistics and aviation infrastructure. Key initiatives include a large coal gasification complex, expanded power generation and supply, improved logistics facilities and the scaling up of aviation MRO capabilities, positioning Vidarbha as a major industrial and infrastructure hub.
